Oh, it has been wonderfully sunny. So much so that I have the start of a tan and that my flowers are blooming. The days have been lovely and I have spent a lot of time outside soaking up the sun, blossoms and bird song. Oh, yes, I have gobbled up many a mystery as I soaked up the sunshine. Right now I am reading of Jan Burke’s Irene Kelly mysteries that I can get my hands on. I am also enjoying Ayelet Waldman’s Mommy-track series as well as the series by Susan Fiffer with a delightful leady lady with an eye for antques and collectables. What can I say, my sister is my book pusher and I can’t thank her enough for steering me to enjoyable reads. And these are lovely for the summer. And if you have a bent for the more magical, I’m a big fan of Jim Butcher’s Harry Dresden series. Yes, it is a series on Sci-Fi and Butcher has had some say in it but I like the books much better. I still can curl up in bed or lay in the sun with a TV set for hours. I admit it….I’m kind of old school that way. And I haven’t just been reading. I finally shut my inner critic away for a bit and finished two paintings that I had started in Misty Mawn’s class, Layers on Canvas , that I was able to take at Art & Soul East. It is always great fun to take a class and I love Misty’s way of working. I can really see that ceramic background come through in her painting style, fingers covered in paint much as they would be with clay. So here are the two pieces I finished. The Reluctant Princess is about right . I had a wonderful time getting lost in paint once I was able to free myself from my vociferous inner critic and just paint. I can’t urge you enough to just go and make something. You heard me. Go play. It’s good for you. And I hope all the links above work. If they don't, I'm sorry. I'm still trying to learn all this new-fangles stuff. But please do let me know. That way I can try to fix it or at least delete it so it isn't frustrating to you. The color isn’t quite right on Broken Love as there is interference blue in areas and it just doesn’t translate well to digital medium (for me at least).
